Alex Hitch is an established health and safety professional in the UK and a member of IIRSM. He has been a safety practitioner for around fourteen years in the UK utilities industry, working in the Gas, Water, Power, and Telecoms sectors. Alex has represented and supported tier one contractors in the delivery of safety and health in the boardroom and on-site to the workforce.
His interests include behavioural safety, risk mitigation through effective (early) planning, incident investigation, and, more importantly, learning and providing innovative, operationally deliverable solutions to protect the safety and health of colleagues.
Away from his day job, Alex has been involved in capacity-building and/or humanitarian aid projects for approximately ten years in Europe and Central Asia, delivering aid, equipment, and training to countries such as Moldova, Romania, Tajikistan, and most recently Ukraine. All of his time and any equipment is donated free of charge, with expenses such as fuel normally covered through donations from local businesses in the UK.
