Cristián Ramírez Lynch

BRISA

Cristian initially trained in Law at the Universities of Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile, and Helsinki, Finland. After graduating in 1995 he worked for the United Nations in New York and then for private companies in Helsinki and Santiago. In 2009 he went to the Engineering School of the University of Chile where he studied Environmental Management Systems. He subsequently joined Brisa S.A., based in Santiago, which he has expanded to work in Industrial Waste Management, Recycling and Environmental Consultancy. He is currently Executive Director of the Company.

Following the banning of Asbestos in Chile (2001) he formed an asbestos removal division but quickly realised the lack of legislation and guidance in Chile. Following a meeting at the European Asbestos Conference in London, Cristian has been working, and formed a strong bond with, Roger Willey of ACS Risk Group in Glasgow. This has resulted in Brisa becoming a UKATAS Approved Training Centre and, in May 2024, the Company was accredited by INN (the Chilean equivalent of UKAS in the UK and member of ILAC – International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) for the identification of asbestos fibres and the counting of airborne fibres. This is the first in Chile as well as the first Asbestos´ Centre of Expertise of in South America.
