Geoff Fary has an unusual combination of background and experiences. Born and raised in rural Southern Australia, he has worked as a farm hand and sheep shearer, studied in Switzerland and also at the Harvard Business School. He has been Assistant Secretary to the Australian Council of Trade Unions, independent Chairman of the federal government’s Asbestos Management Review and Chairman of the Australian Asbestos Safety and Eradication Council; and is presently Deputy Chairman of the Australian Institute of Management. So within a variety of functions and over the course of many years, Geoff has had responsibility for shaping and directing Australia’s national policy on asbestos, putting to use his combined perspectives of government, corporate and union experience.
